International meeting: After an absence of three years, due to Covid, the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), the long-awaited international agricultural meeting in Morocco, is back with a 15th edition that promises to shine the spotlight. on the challenges and issues inherent in food sovereignty and its sustainability.

Organized from May 2 to 7, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this edition has chosen as its theme “Green Generation: For sustainable food sovereignty”. The time to debate and discuss current events in the agricultural sector, in the light of new developments dictated by the global inflationary context and climate-related challenges. Thus, workshops and conferences dealing in particular with food sovereignty and climate change will punctuate this edition.

Twenty program contracts relating to the production chains will also have to be initialed. According to the organizers, the United Kingdom is the guest of honor for this 2023 edition, which promises to be as rich as it is promising. This choice is not fortuitous, but does reflect the excellence of the historical relations woven between the two countries and promises a great agricultural adventure through the exploration of the richness and diversity of British agriculture. In addition, this major meeting on the international agricultural agenda will attach particular importance to the latest developments in research and innovation in the agricultural sector. Also, a business space is set up to facilitate the conclusion of future partnerships in the field of business and trade in relation to the sector. Local products will also be very present with a dedicated stand which will see the participation of around 500 cooperatives. Enough to ensure a tailor-made promotion and marketing of these products, in particular those of cooperatives run by women. Deployed over an area of ​​18 ha, 11 ha of which are covered, SIAM, which is one of the largest events in Africa dedicated to agriculture and actors in the agricultural sector, should welcome 900,000 visitors.

The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Waters and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, who inquired earlier this week in Meknes about the final preparations for the development of the site to host this agricultural event , assured that “preparations are going well”, indicating that this edition should see the participation of nearly 1,400 exhibitors from 68 countries, with a significant international presence, particularly at the level of ministers of agriculture. This year, the Show will be organized around 11 different areas (regions, institutions and sponsors, international, products, agricultural supplies, nature and life, local products, breeding, machinery, conferences).

Like the last editions, the holding of this international agricultural mass offers new opportunities to be seized by the various actors and professionals of the agricultural sector. This is an ideal opportunity to boost the dynamics in agriculture and agri-food, but also to strengthen the influence of the Kingdom as a regional player. The last edition of SIAM, held in 2019, attracted 850,000 visitors and 595 journalists representing national and international media. It welcomed Switzerland as a country of honor, experienced the organization of 35 conferences and the signing of 42 conventions.
