Right at the start of Fashion Week, the Danish designer presented her Sia Arnika Fall Winter 2023 collection on January 16, 2023 at the Ember Archive Bouche. The archive is an old industrial building in East Berlin with concrete vaults, empty shelves, and long rows of boxes that is currently home to the Ember, Open Fire Cooking restaurant. For her, the industrial building reflects the melancholy of Berlin’s past, which the designer contrasted with her futuristic collection, which she presented in show format for the first time.
Sia Arnica Fall Winter 2023 Collection
In her new collection, Sia Arnika opted for the destroyed look with a DIY character: deconstructed garments with torn, frayed and knotted elements. She combines these with leather pieces with oversize silhouettes. The color palette consists of jet black, apple green, powder pink and copper. The designer finds the “beauty in the bizarre and strange” and plays with the opposites of maximalism and minimalism. The filigree craftsmanship of their designs is unmistakable. She found inspiration in Norse myths and old folk tales, which she combined with hardcore futurism for this collection. In the course of her slow fashion approach, she is inspired by classic design elements such as draping from the Renaissance and at the same time combines them with the future-oriented material Circulose®.
A dualism of past and future
The designer was born on the small island of Mors in northern Denmark. She moved to Berlin to study fashion design at Esmod. After working at Ottolinger and Yeezy, Sia Arnika launched her eponymous label in 2020. Her designs are unique: Futuristic design meets detailed craftsmanship. This symbiosis makes them stand out as a brand and aesthetics. Sia Arnika describes the woman she designs for as one who comes from the past but lives in the future. That’s why she also stands for slow fashion and responsible fashion.
