He assured that he himself had no plans to leave Russia – “here is my family, work, my audience, my people.”

Mikhail Shufutinsky was born in Moscow in 1948. He began his career performing in restaurants in Moscow and Magadan, then headed the VIA Leisya Pesnya. In 1981, together with his family, he emigrated to the United States, where he released albums by Anatoly Mogilevsky, performed in various groups and created his own group “Ataman Band”. In 1990, he came to Russia for the first time following emigrating, and in 2003 he returned to the country for permanent residence.
