Voice actor Alfonso Obregón, known for performing the voices of Shrek and Bugs Bunny, was arrested on charges of sexual abuse against one of his students.
The news was spread by journalist Carlos Jiménez. According to the journalist, Obregón was preparing to travel to Colombia, but the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City ordered his arrest.
After being arrested, Alfonso was taken to prison by the Investigative Police. An initial hearing will be held in the coming weeks to determine his legal situation. If found guilty, he could face a serious penalty.
Obregón was transferred to the Northern Men’s Preventive Prison, located in Mexico City. In his defense, the voice actor said that he only made an unfortunate comment to the girl, just as his teachers did to him.
“I am accused of sexual assault, when all I did was tell a girl during an exercise: ‘Squeeze your ass!’ That was my assault, as did my singing and acting teachers,” he told the journalist.
