Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–Some people may drink large amounts of fluids during the Suhoor meal in the hope of staving off thirst and dehydration while fasting during Ramadan, but is that really helpful?
The official account of the Omani Ministry of Health on Twitter indicated that this is not true.
Drinking a lot of water during Suhoor, or before dawn in general, increases the work of the kidneys to get rid of water, which increases the desire to urinate, and this may cause a feeling of thirst.
Therefore, it is recommended to eat vegetables and fruits rich in water at the Suhoor meal, such as watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, and cucumbers, as they cause the body to gradually secrete water during fasting.
The distribution of periods of drinking water during breakfast contributes to quenching the body and preserving fluids in it.
