A listener wonders if electromagnetic waves have effects on health. Valérie Borde, head of the science and health office of the magazine Newsseparates the wheat from the chaff and emphasizes that the fear of waves is very old, despite numerous scientific studies demonstrating their harmlessness.
« Many people continue to deny the search results, because they believe that there is something to be researched, that the experts are sold to the telecommunications industry and that it cannot be trivial to have so many waves around us. So yes, it can be. »
The scientific journalist adds that it is above all the radio frequencies used for wi-fi, cell phones or smart meters that worry people.
Valérie Borde points out that a parallel pseudoscience has been built on the subject, supported by numerous studies carried out with a non-rigorous methodology. The business of the waves is not only on the side of the telecommunications companies, but also of the industry which lives from the fear of the waves.
