Al-Sisi said, in a speech while attending the graduation ceremony of a new batch of the Police Academy, today, Sunday, that “the region and the world are going through very difficult circumstances,” and that Egypt was keen to ensure that its policy was “balanced” in light of “this dangerous turmoil.”
Al-Sisi pointed out that Egypt had previously warned of this ongoing unrest, and “we said that its continuation would lead to dangerous consequences in our region and the world.”
He sent a message to the Egyptians, saying: “We need Egypt to understand this, and we adhere to our constants, which are our keenness to practice a policy characterized by balance, moderation, and objectivity,” noting that this approach has been followed for years, in light of the presence of tensions on the western, southern, and currently eastern borders of Egypt.
He continued: “Do these developments worry the Egyptian people? Without a doubt, we must be concerned because the developments are very dangerous and may lead to an expansion of the conflict in a way that affects stability in the region.”
He stressed that “Egypt is fine, and things are stable and developing for the better.”
Yesterday, President Sisi made a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, addressing the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, stressing Egypt’s full support for Lebanon, its standing by its side in these delicate circumstances, and its refusal to undermine its security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity.
Al-Sisi stressed, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, the necessity of an immediate, comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza, noting in this regard that the international community’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities to stop aggressive practices towards the Palestinian territories and Lebanon threatens to slide the region into a dangerous state of escalation, which would undermine stability. Regional and international peace is at stake.
Sisi directed that emergency medical and relief aid be sent to Lebanon immediately, in solidarity with its brotherly people.
