Shots in the Dark: Baffling Injuries Fuel Fears of Unseen Gun Violence

At 21:12, the police receive a report from residents around Grønlandstorv in the south/eastern part of Aalborg, who have heard shots.

– We send a few patrols to the area, but since the reports are not that precise, we have a little difficulty in ascertaining whether anything has happened, explains the head of duty at North Jutland Police, Jesper Sørensen.

– Shortly afterwards we are contacted by the emergency department at Aalborg Sygehus Syd, where two people have come in with what are probably gunshot wounds, he says.

Jesper Sørensen has no information about the condition of the two people.

– We are currently massively present in the area around Grønlandstorv and around the emergency department, says Jesper Sørensen, who says that they are very interested in hearing from witnesses.

– If you have heard or seen anything in the two places, and you have not spoken to the police yet, we would very much like to speak to witnesses, says Jesper Sørensen.

The police can be contacted by calling 114.

North Jutland’s envoys are present at Grønlandstorv and Umanakvej. A little after 23 there are still many dogs and officers in the area. There is broken glass on the road from a car.

Umanakvej is blocked off. This also applies to a car park.

Officers patrol the area.

Recently, there have been clashes between several gang groups in Aalborg. Whether it is related to tonight’s shooting episode is still unclear.

Among other things, there was a shooting on the night of 11 August at the Circle-K gas station on Hadsundsvej, where a 19-year-old was hit in the leg.

The incident took place shortly after midnight. Later in the day, a 21-year-old man was arrested in the island street neighborhood and charged with attempted murder.

A few days before, two cars had collided on Skalborg Bakke after a car chase. Here the police stated that on the one hand it was the GT group (GT stands for Grønlands Torv, ed.) and on the other hand the A12, which refers to a residential area in Nørresundby.
