Shots Fired, Chaos Ensues: Community Left Reeling in Aftermath of Sudden Gunfire Outbreak

One man was hit in the arm, and the other in the torso. However, both are not seriously injured and are expected to be discharged later today.

This is stated by Deputy Police Inspector Niels Kronborg, North Jutland Police.

The police consider the shooting episode to be part of the pending gang conflict in Aalborg between GT and A12.

Why shots were fired and who shot at whom in the middle of GT-land on Grønlands Torv is still unclear.

But one of the police’s hypotheses is that the motive behind the shooting may be revenge.

– The conflict between the gangs is serious, and this is confirmed by the new incident. We take it very, very seriously, and we will continue with our increased efforts against both gang groups, says the deputy police inspector.

Six arrested

Six people have been arrested in the case, and they all have ties to the gangs, just as the two injured men are also part of the gang environment, Niels Kronborg informs.

However, he does not wish to disclose the affiliations of the arrested and injured.

It is also still unknown whether the six arrested will be brought before a constitutional hearing.

– We are in full swing with the investigation, where we must, among other things, try to clarify a course of events. So it is too early to say anything about a possible production, says Niels Kronborg.

Calling for witnesses

The police have not yet found the murder weapon, but there are clues to work on, the deputy police inspector says.

However, the police are still appealing for witnesses to the shooting incident

– We would like to hear from people who have seen something or have knowledge. Or who might have surveillance videos or pictures, says Niels Kronborg.

The police can be contacted by calling 114.

Attention to risk of retaliation

The two gangs have previously retaliated against an attack on the other party, and it is only a month ago that a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg at Circle K on Hadsundvej.

In that case, two people connected to A12 are in custody.

And North Jutland Police are aware of the risk of another retaliatory attack.

– We are massively present with patrols, and then we continue the investigation and the preventive work to avoid any retaliation, says Niels Kronborg.

No visitation zone

After GT and A12 have been declared gangs in conflict, the police have the opportunity to use tools in some of the gang packs.

Including creating a visitation zone.

And that possibility has also been considered on top of Thursday’s shooting at Grønlands Torv.

– We are looking at different tools, and we have also looked at the possibility of a visitation zone. But we have decided that it is not something we want to make use of at this time, says Niels Kronborg.
