Shot from a gun set to a wild boar; CPI leader dies- CPI Leader Death | Gun Trap

Kasargod: A CPI (M) leader was shot dead by a wild boar in Kasargod on Friday. The deceased has been identified as M. Madhavan Nambiar, 65, of Kollickal, Vellakode, Karicheri. The accident happened last Tuesday morning when he was going to pick gum in the garden of his house. He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place. The trap was set in such a way that it might be fired if it hit the strings of the gun. He is believed to have been shot in the leg while plucking the jaw.

Madhavan himself informed his wife on the phone regarding the shooting. Neighbors rushed him to a private hospital in Kasargod. He was later shifted to Mangalore as his condition was critical. He died this morning. Examination revealed that the pistol of the gun was stuck in the knee. Bekal police registered a case. He was a member of the CPI Kanhangad constituency committee and Karicheri branch secretary. He is survived by his wife K. Nirmala and children K. Nithya and K. Nithin.

A week ago, a man had informed Madhavan that a gun had been set up at the spot. But Madhavan had informed him that this should be removed and not repeated. Madhavan’s statement to the police while he was in the hospital states this.
