***Legumes, vegetables and red meat top the list.**

According to a tour carried out yesterday through popular markets and chain supermarkets in the city of Maracay, Aragua state, the absence of some food products was observed, mainly red meats, legumes and vegetables.

According to consumers consulted, the reason would be the paralysis of commercial and transportation activities experienced in several cities of the country in recent days, following the demonstrations by a sector of the population, for disagreeing with the results issued by the National Electoral Council of the presidential elections of last Sunday, June 28.

Markets located on Aragua Avenue, north of the city, and supermarkets in the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality were some of the ones that had empty shelves.

In this regard, Yojanna Manzanillo indicated that she went shopping a week ago, but due to a rush she could not do the complete shopping. She said that she decided to buy the rest yesterday Tuesday and had to go to several stores on Bolívar Avenue and Santos Michelena to find cilantro.

Likewise, Clara Medina, who identified herself as a food merchant, indicated that she had already visited several markets because she could not find cilantro, chives and chili peppers. “This is the 4th place I have visited and I still cannot buy the green seasonings. I don’t know the reason, but I will have to replace it with another vegetable,” she said.

Julio Gomez, who was standing in line to enter a supermarket in a shopping center located in Base Aragua, said that in addition to vegetables, red meat was also missing. As for the rest of the products such as rice, precooked flour, margarine, sugar, eggs and other basic provisions of the Venezuelan basic food basket, he stressed that fortunately there was some.

“Luckily I bought chicken, which is what I found,” he added.
