Shortage of teachers: 8,600 jobs advertised this year – education

Vienna – A total of 8,600 teaching positions were advertised at schools this year – with a total of around 120,000 teachers in Austria. Just before the start of the school year, not all of them are occupied. Nevertheless, Education Minister Martin Polaschek (ÖVP) assured that every lesson might be held. For example, overtime is used and the extent of part-time work is increased.
