Vienna (OTS/SK) – Today the judge in the trial once morest ex-Chancellor Kurz (ÖVP) answered the question in the first instance as to whether Kurz knowingly made his objectively false statement in the Ibiza-U Committee and whether an intention to deceive can be proven beyond a doubt. Today’s proceedings ended with a guilty verdict for ex-Chancellor Kurz and co-defendant ex-cabinet head Bonelli. “This is rather a smaller venue for the legal analysis of the Kurz system,” says Jan Krainer, SPÖ parliamentary group leader in the current Cofag-U committee and in the last two U-committees (Ibiza, ÖVP corruption). “The ‘Kurst era’ will keep the courts busy for years to come.” The other pending suspicions are serious (the presumption of innocence applies). ****

“The judiciary is responsible for the legal assessment,” says Krainer. Politicians should hold back. (End) wf/up
