« Impatientes”, a short fiction film, is a social film that seeks to share the hidden and tested daily life of psychiatric hospitals, places that are still taboo and yet essential to the French healthcare system. In this film, we find the values of inclusion and transmission of its author-director, with a heterogeneous and intergenerational palette of characters. With hope and sometimes a few touches of humour, “Impatientes” pays tribute to them and hopes to open the debate on the representation and realities of these necessary services. The shooting took place in 2022 at the EPSM de la Somme which tells us regarding it here. We will inform you soon of the availability of the short film…

On Easter weekend 2022, the seventh art was invited to the EPSM de la Somme for a week of filming made up of improvisations, unexpected encounters and sharing of experiences. Thus, from Friday April 15 at the end of the day, a clapperboard announced the start of filming. Cameramen, actors, technicians, decorators, make-up artists then mingled with the establishment’s professionals. About fifteen extras, mostly from the EPSM de la Somme, patients and agents, were able to participate in the production of the short film “Impatientes”. Written and directed by Quentin Delcourt, this film traces the journey of Christine, played by actress Césarisée Linh-Dan Pham, a philosophy professor who chooses to be hospitalized following a traumatic event. She then discovers a new environment and meets Laure (Anaïs Parello) and Princess Titou (Agnès Soral), two characters with big hearts, who will quickly become her colleagues in the therapeutic journey. For them, only one certainty: there are no patients in this hospital, just impatient people.

« The goal with “Impatientes” is to offer media that de-stigmatizes the often caricatured image of psychiatric hospitals and people suffering from mental illnesses. «

The filming was carried out in the pavilion “Les Myosotis” of the EPSM de la Somme refurbished for the occasion by the technical and general services of the establishment. On December 5, 2022, following many weeks of editing, the preview of the short film “Impatientes” took place, in the presence of many professionals and patients of the establishment, in the amphitheater of the EPSM de la Somme . Two sessions were scheduled for the day. At the end of the screening, discussions took place with the director. Everyone’s point of view was heard and debated, and, being a cinematographic object, the approach taken to psychiatry was appreciated. Indeed, with this short film, the director has only one objective: to change the way we look at psychiatry and modify the representations associated with mental disorders.
