At least four people were killed and five others injured in Rio de Janeiro after several gunmen opened fire on a group of people in a bar in the northern part of the city, regional sources reported on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the Turiaçu neighborhood, at the entrance to the Congonha favela, located in the populous area of Madureira.
According to the Municipal Health Department, four victims were transferred to the Rapid Care Unit (UPA) in the area, where they arrived dead.
The other five were sent to the Getulio Vargas hospital, where two injured people are hospitalized, one of them seriously.
The other three people have already been discharged.
According to the Military Police, initial investigations indicate that the attack was caused by a dispute between rival criminal factions, which is why they have intensified surveillance in the area.
This is the second attack of this type recorded in less than a month in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Two weeks ago, four people were killed and three others injured in a similar attack that occurred at midnight in Barão de Drumond Square, a busy spot in the Vila Isabel neighborhood, also located in the northern part of the city, where dozens of people were partying.
