Shooting leaves a woman dead and other people injured in Barahona

A woman died and her sister and two other people were injured in a shooting in the town of Arroyo Dulce, in the municipality of Enriquillo, when they were celebrating the San Juan Day festivities.

The deceased was identified as Yohandry Neck, 22 years old, who has a gunshot wound to the head and the injured are her sister Abigail Yoelvia Neck, 28, who has three bullet wounds in both legs; Agustín Lugo Santos, 24, and Joel Féliz, 21.

Yohandry died last night while receiving emergency care at the Hospital Regional Universitario Jaime Mota (HRUJM).

According to the information, a man, until now unidentified, appeared in the aforementioned town of Arroyo Dulce, Enriquillo, and began shooting at a crowd.

Others say that the husband of the deceased argued with a man, who immediately started shooting at the people gathered who were celebrating a street party in that coastal town of Barahona, for the day of San Juan, which brings together many people from adjacent communities.

Members of the South Regional Directorate of the National Police, the National Emergency System (9-1-1) and representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office went to the scene of the incident to inquire about what happened, reasons and causes.

So far, the local police have not offered details about the incident, so it is expected that in the next few hours they will offer information to the media.
