Five people were injured in shootings at a university campus in Baltimore, Maryland. Police Chief Richard Worley said at a press conference on Wednesday (local time) that the victims were between 18 and 22 years old. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
Four of the victims were students at Morgan State University. The police in the city initially did not report any arrests and did not provide any information regarding suspects.
After the shooting on Tuesday, officials sealed off the southern entrance to the campus near the dormitories in the evening, and a police helicopter made laps over the complex. According to the university, more than 9,000 students were enrolled at the end of 2022. Morgan State University is traditionally attended by black students.
The police initially spoke of an active shooter and called for people to seek shelter and avoid the area. City Council member Ryan Dorsey wrote on the X platform, formerly Twitter, that it was believed there were three shooters. Worley said at the news conference that it was unclear how many people shot.
