On the morning of Friday, September 6, a shootout shook the busy San Antonio de Pereira sector in Rionegro. Outside a well-known gym, Ramón Sánchez, a man of Venezuelan origin, was killed as he left a workout. According to witnesses, several men aboard a white car and two motorcycles shot at the man and also wounded a vendor of empanadas. This act of violence is just one of several homicides that have occurred in eastern Antioquia in recent days, spreading fear among residents and raising serious concerns about security in the region.
Authorities are already investigating the incident and are looking for those responsible, who fled on a motorcycle.

As investigations continue, the hypothesis of a settling of scores or a war between criminal gangs has gained strength. The attackers fled on a motorcycle and were also wounded in their legs and the police expect to hear whether they will be admitted to a hospital in the next 48 hours due to the after-effects of the bullet wounds they received.
