Shooting in Ixelles: Two Injured at Chaussée de Wavre and Rue Francart Intersection

Two people were injured during a shooting in Ixelles, at the intersection of Chaussée de Wavre and Rue Francart, the Brussels King’s Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this Monday. On Sunday September 24, at 1:30 a.m., the police in the Brussels Capital Ixelles zone were called to intervene.

Two victims were on the ground. One of them was hit in the right ribs and the other in the thigh area. Both victims were transferred to hospital to receive the necessary treatment. Their days are not in danger.

A judicial exclusion perimeter was set up in order to preserve traces useful for the investigation. The deputy public prosecutor ordered the first investigative tasks, namely the hearing of witnesses, the camera investigation and the intervention of the federal judicial police laboratory and a ballistic expert. An investigating judge was summoned for attempted murder and came to the scene in the presence of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

The daily La Capitale mentions a victim of “a stray bullet” during shootings between rival gangs in the Matonge district once morest a backdrop of drug trafficking. The prosecution does not confirm the information and will not make any further comment “in the interests of the investigation”.
