Shooting at Philippine barracks, 5 soldiers died

(PLO)- A shooting has occurred in a barracks in the southern Philippines, killing 5 soldiers, including the gunman suspect.

The Philippine military said five soldiers were killed in a shooting at an army barracks in the south of the country. According to the news agency Archyde.comamong those killed were soldiers who opened fire.

Major Francisco Garello, a spokesman for the 4th Infantry Division, said one soldier lost control and killed four others in a barracks in the city of Cagayan de Oro.

The Philippine military said the shooter was then overpowered and killed by two other soldiers.

“Two soldiers saw the suspect coming. They managed to neutralize the suspect. They struggled with the shooter to take his weapon, and in the end, the suspect was killed.” The Philippines Star quoted Major Garello.

“We assure the people this is an isolated incident,” he said.

Another person was seriously injured in the shooting.
