Another incident hit the coffee shop Los Angeles in Amsterdam Oost, writes the Parool newspaper: according to the police, residents reportedly called 911 around 3:30 yesterday morning following hearing loud sounds of gunfire.
The agents who intervened on the spot found several shell casings and bullet holes in the building, writes the Amsterdam newspaper. It is not the first time that the coffee shop has been hit: already in 2018, a bomb had exploded at night in front of the entrance door and in 2019, a hand grenade was left in front of the New Times coffee shop in Spuistraat, which appeared to be owned by the same owner as the Los Angeles.
In 2019, the mayor Femke Halsema revoked the license at the Oost coffeeshop but an appeal to the Council of State, presented by the owner, was regarding to reopen the structure: according to Parool, in fact, the decision of the mayor of Amsterdam had not been sufficiently substantiated and the highest administrative body had given six weeks to the municipality to justify the closure order.
For this reason, if there hadn’t been these explosions, which will most likely offer the reasons that the current ordinance lacked, the coffee shop would probably have reopened.
