A Russian fighter plane crashed into a residential building on Monday. in the city of Yeisk, in southern Russia, engulfing the departments in flames, according to the regional governor.
Images showed a large ball of fire coming out of a multi-storey building. Russian news agencies said that the pilots would have ejected from the plane.
Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the plane was a Sukhoi Su-34, a supersonic fighter-bomber medium range. The RIA news agency reported that she crashed during a training flight from a military airfield. For its part, the TASS agency said that the accident was caused by an engine fire.

Russia’s State Investigative Committee, which deals with serious crimes, reported that a criminal case was opened and investigators were sent to the scenewhile it did not communicate what evidence pointed to a possible violation.
Interfax quoted the Kremlin as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been informed and ordered that all necessary aid be given to the victims.
“Emergency services are already working on the spot: all regional fire and rescue garrisons are engaged in extinguishing the fire,” Kondratyev, governor of the Krasnodar region, which includes Yeisk, wrote on Telegram.

The official said the fire occurred in a nine-story building. “The fire engulfed several floors at once. Seventeen apartments suffered preliminary damage,” Kondratyev said. “Information on the dead and wounded is being clarified. Ambulance crews are on the scene.”
Yeisk is separated from the occupied Russian territory in southern Ukraine through a narrow stretch of the Sea of Azov. The incident comes nearly eight months following Russia sent its troops to Ukraine.
