According to the Vienna public transport company, it can be ruled out that the pole is part of the tram or railway system.

In Vienna, a woman was shocked in a tram accident.
An iron rod had pierced through the floor and then through a seat of the 62 tram.
The woman remained unhurt.
Wild scenes took place on Tuesday evening in a Viennese Tram off: As a reader reported to the online newspaper meine.at, she was on the 62 tram on the way home when she suddenly heard a crash.
“I was very lucky that there was only my backpack there”
At the same moment, a pole shot up from the ground and pierced the seat next to her. “I was shocked and might hardly believe what had happened,” said the Viennese. She was obviously very lucky because, according to her, only her backpack was on the armchair at the time.
The Wiener Linien confirms the incident, which occurred late in the evening not far from the Philadelphia Bridge. “The damage was reported to us around 11:30 p.m. We can rule out that it was part of the railway system or the train,” it continues. According to current information, it is assumed that it was a pipe that someone had previously lost on the route.
This is how the accident happened
However, due to the poor lighting conditions, the pole was not visible, which is why the collision occurred. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. However, there is an appeal from Wiener Linien: “If anyone notices that an object is lying on our facilities, please contact Wiener Linien immediately via the emergency call point on the platform.”
