During the early hours of this April 12, the front part of a heritage building collapsed. This happened in Escobedo and 9 de Octubre streets, downtown Guayaquil. Fortunately, no one was affected.
The fall of the structure was captured on video. The Fire Department indicated that the building was uninhabited at the time of the collapse. On the ground floor of the building there are some commercial premises.

During this morning, the director of Risk Management of the Municipality of Guayaquil, Allan Hacay, said in an interview with Ecuavisa that the building had not been declared old and that the area will be closed all this Tuesday until the removal is completed. of rubble and assess the damage and risks that the heritage building represents.

He also said that the electricity service in the sector has been suspended.
The emergency has forced the Traffic and Mobility Agency (ATM) to close several roads. The institution reported that the intersections of the streets October 9 and Boyacá, October 9 and Baquerizo Moreno, and Escobedo and Francisco P. Icaza are blocked.

The ATM recommends that those who move along 9 de Octubre and are heading towards the Malecón take 10 de Agosto avenue.
