Criminals shot a policewoman in the chest in La Tablada in the middle of an attempted robbery

In the early hours of this Thursday, the Buenos Aires Police, in an investigation headed by prosecutor Adrián Arribas, arrested a suspect for the shooting attack suffered by Jessica Vanina Díaz, a member of the City Police, attacked last night in La Tablada by several criminals who tried to steal his car.

The suspect, sources in the case assured Infobae, is 15 years old, a fact that must be certified with documentation and RENAPER records. Therefore, it is unimpeachable. There are two other suspects identified who are also minors.

The detainee was identified because his mother took him to the guard of a public hospital: he had two shots in his legs. According to sources in the case, he was wearing the same clothes that he would have worn in the incident, filmed by security cameras, with the same shorts with which he attended the guard. His mother, investigators say, cooperated with the file.

Arribas, in charge of UFI No. 12 of La Matanza, managed to identify three of the four members of the gang suspected of committing the act and led a series of raids in the La Tablada area. There, at noon, one of the motorcycles used was found. Several pods served in a home were seized, which do not match the caliber of the shot that Díaz received, made with a .45 bullet. Díaz, as doctors confirmed to the court, suffered the impact in the left hemithorax: the bullet damaged his diaphragm and pierced his liver. The projectile, which was under his liver, was recovered. She was operated on at a hospital in La Matanza. She was then transferred to the Italian Hospital.

Arribas, following identifying the gang, sent the file to the Matanzas juvenile court. This is not the first time something like this has happened to the prosecutor in recent times. The same thing happened with the case of Roberto Eduardo Mac Donald, deputy director of the Urban Guard of the Municipality of La Matanza and retired officer of the Naval Prefecture, murdered last month in an alleged robbery attempt, when two motorcycle jets intercepted him to take his truck following completing his work day. As confirmed by judicial sources to Infobae, Mac Donald was shot at least six times.

Díaz, dressed in uniform, resisted the robbery with her gun. Thus, the criminals fled, but first one of them opened fire on Díaz, who was left lying on the ground following being shot in the chest. Her father alerted 911 and, immediately, she was transferred to the Ballestrini Hospital in Ciudad Evita.

The news was communicated by the Minister of Security of the City of Buenos Aires, Waldo Wolff, who reported: “Officer Diaz of the City Police has just been shot twice by criminals who wanted to steal her car in La Tablada, PBA, when he returned from work.”
