A nameless horror. This Wednesday, during a police raid accompanied by the Animal Welfare inspectors of the Province, the latter discovered, in several freezers of a Boraine dwelling, 75 frozen animals. 72 cats and 3 dogs. “It’s horrible what was discovered”, comments Gaetan Sgualdino, president of the SPA La Louvière who was instructed by the police to count the animals thrown into garbage bags as common waste. “It is behavior that is not human. One wonders how they might live peacefully knowing the acts they had committed. It’s absolutely incomprehensible.”
In the bags found in several freezers, SPA veterinarians found adult cats, kittens and even fetuses. “Some were already in a state of decomposition when they were frozen. The BEA inspectors who intervened admitted to having never seen this and the police officers who stayed with us during the “countdown” were in shock.
The great means
In fact, for this operation, great means had been deployed because regarding sixty cats had been reported. “And when the inspectors arrived, there were only regarding twenty left. This gave the flea in the ear to the inspectors who then searched the house and therefore the freezers.”
In addition, 25 cats were seized on the spot and dispatched between several shelters, including 5 at the SPA. “The surviving cats were in very poor condition and suffered from various pathologies. We clearly see that they were mistreated there and we also understand better the state in which some cats found frozen were. A priori, their environment there was the apocalypse with a lot of waste everywhere as well as piles of droppings. In short, it was total horror and it is difficult to imagine such behavior.”
