A man in his 20s who rode an apartment elevator in broad daylight violently assaulted a woman next door.
The man told police that he committed the crime with the intention of sexually assaulting the victim.

An apartment in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Yesterday at around 12:30 noon, the police received a report that a man in his 20s assaulted a woman in his neighborhood.
[인근 주민/음성변조 : “자고 있었다가 찢어지는 비명 소리 들려서 당장 일어나서 옷입고 나왔는데… (여성 분이) 손도 엄청 떠시고 피도 흘릴 정도…”]
A man in an elevator on the 12th floor suddenly started beating a woman who was riding alone.
The assault continued until she came down two floors, and the man who came down in the elevator forcibly dragged the woman to this place.
A man who tried to drag a woman down a deserted staircase by the hallway was grabbed by residents who heard her screams and came out of the house.
The man and the victim were residents of the same apartment, but they had never met each other.
The victim suffered serious injuries, including broken ribs and a suspected concussion.

In the police investigation, the man also stated that he committed the crime with the intention of sexually assaulting the victim, and it was confirmed that he had a history of receiving juvenile protection for attempted rape when he was a minor.
Victims exposed to crime in their apartment elevator are complaining of anxiety.

Police applied for an arrest warrant for the man on charges of rape and injury.
