The animals were found by the police in conditions described as “the worst conditions they had ever seen”, according to the WKBN media.

In some refrigerators and freezers, remains of dead dogs have been discovered.

In this shelter named “Helping Hands for Furry Paws”, the authorities saw small puppies in full decomposition.

“In a garage, there were more than 25 dogs in a cage with no ventilation or air conditioning, with temperatures up to 89 degrees,” according to a statement released by local police.

The cages were full of urine, feces, and no food or water was available for the distressed animals.

When officers arrived on the scene, they described the smell as “strong enough to burn your eyes”.

These note that such cruelty deserves prison.

The surviving dogs are now safe at a Butler County Animal Friends Humane Society to undergo evaluations and treatment.
