In Passau, a passenger ship was traveling too fast. According to the Passau Traffic Police Inspectorate, three cruise ships were damaged on Saturday followingnoon when one ship cast off too quickly and generated waves that were too high.
The cruise ship, sailing under the Swiss flag and measuring 135 meters in length, cast off from the Lindau berth towards Budapest in the followingnoon. According to the Passau Traffic Police Inspectorate, it must have been too fast when it was dropped and the waves were too high.
Three ships damaged
As a result, three idle ships are said to have been damaged. Among other things, the mast of a satellite system on a ship flying the Maltese flag was torn from its anchorage. The ship was driven onto a Swiss cruise ship behind, which was also slightly damaged. The ship that caused the accidents just kept going.
35,000 euros damage
On another Swiss ship, satellite systems and a radar bar were also damaged and the bow was slightly dented. The total damage is currently estimated at around 35,000 euros. The skipper of the ship, which was going too fast, is unlikely to have noticed the damage and continued on towards Upper Austria. Only following his return to Passau should he be questioned regarding the incident, according to the police.
