The coach of the Indonesian U-23 team, Shin Tae-yong, revealed one of the main reasons why his team might not play freely once morest Uzbekistan in the semifinal match of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. That was because of the nervous factor that surrounded them.
“Before the match started, the players felt a little nervous. It affected the team so they mightn’t play very well. In the previous match, normally we might play well,” said Shin Tae-yong following the Indonesia vs Uzbekistan match, Monday (29/4) .
In the previous three matches, the Garuda Muda squad performed impressively, beating strong teams such as Australia, Jordan and South Korea. Against Uzbekistan, Rizky Ridho and his friends were forced to defend and found it difficult to develop their game.
Shin Tae-yong also admitted that Uzbekistan played better. Even so, he still appreciates the struggle of his foster children.
“I appreciate the good effort from the players. I think Uzbekistan played well and gave a good effort too,” said Shin.
Throughout the match, Uzbekistan played dominantly with ball control. Indonesia had difficulty developing a game with high pressing from Uzbekistan.
