Shiloh, the 18-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, recently made a major move in her personal life, making official her decision to drop the “Pitt” from her last name. Silo published a notice in the Los Angeles Times, pursuant to California law, which requires publication of such requests in a newspaper of general circulation.
Shiloh’s wish is to change her name to Shiloh Nouvelle Jolie, thus avoiding being associated with her famous father amid his heated divorce dispute with her mother. According to Page Six, the young woman filed on her 18th birthday, highlighting her independence and desire to distance herself from the negative publicity surrounding her parents’ divorce.
A source told “Entertainment Tonight” that Shiloh hired and paid for her own attorney, meaning Angelina Jolie had no knowledge and cannot comment on her daughter’s actions.
However, people close to Brad Pitt question who is really behind this major move, hinting that there may be another influence behind Shiloh’s decision. A source told Page Six: “Reasonable people will have to draw their own conclusions about who was really behind this.”
Another source told People that Brad Pitt was aware and upset about his daughter’s actions, stating, “He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.” The source added that Pitt is saddened by the distance he has created with his children.
The rest of her siblings follow the same path
Shiloh isn’t the only one of the famous couple’s children who wants to ditch the last name Pete. Zahara also made a similar move last fall when she proudly called out her name as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during an induction ceremony for the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at college.
At the same time, Vivien seems to be following in the footsteps of her older brothers. These changes underscore the former couple’s children’s desire to forge their own identities, away from the controversy and intense publicity that accompanies their famous parents.
