Kannur ∙ The politics of murder in the district killed a person without injuring his body: Shesina (34) of Panur Koorara Chekutinvita, who had to witness the killing of KT Jayakrishnan, took her own life the other day. Shezina’s life shows that the terrifying memories of witnessing the murder have not gone away.

On December 1, 1999, Shesina was sitting on the first bench when a group of miscreants barged into class six B of Mokeri East UP School and hacked to death Yuva Morcha State Vice President KT Jayakrishnan. Relatives say this regarding those days: ‘Shezina’s uniform and book were covered with drops of blood. She ran home screaming that day. It took a long time to get out of not only the house, but also the scary memories. Later, he never went to school.

Mokeri was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Higher Secondary School but might not continue his studies. The reason was the fear of seeing the crowd. Don’t listen to bad news. Can’t stand the sound of the ambulance. Will not go to festival grounds or wedding house. Tried to return to life through continuous counseling. Passed SSLC as Pvt. After graduation did computer training. Worked as data entry operator in village office for 3 years. Forced to marry but did not agree. On the anniversary, Shesina had objected to KT Jayakrishnan’s photo being posted on social media. Sometimes he said that he wanted to die. Shezina never recovered from the shock of her beloved teacher’s murder.’

The Panur police said that the relatives of Shezina had given a statement that following witnessing the murder, Shezina suffered from depression and had attempted suicide in 2021. The Panur police said that Shezina’s death statement stated that she committed suicide because she was tired of life and that no one else was responsible for the death.

Killed by the sight of murder

Giving scientific testimony to Shezina’s miserable life, Dr. Kozhikode Medical College team member and associate professor of forensics who conducted the post-mortem. In the words of TM Prajith:

‘When we learned that the 34-year-old woman had committed suicide, we searched for the reason. At first, the relatives said that the child had a mental problem. But Shezina has not returned to a normal state of mind even for a single day.

This is the menstrual trauma that happened to a small child. In that incident, it is known that half of the people who were in the class that day are mentally disturbed. Displaced children are working in many places. Other classmates are also suffering. The lives of so many children have been ruined.’
