Sheryl Sandberg, 52, the chief operating officer (COO) who co-starred with Mark Zuckerberg in the development of Facebook as a San Francisco startup, is stepping down. Sandberg was second in Facebook’s company, Meta. Sandberg joined Facebook in 2008. The company recently changed its name to Meta Platforms.
Sandberg is stepping down with the privilege of turning Facebook into Meta’s billion-dollar business. Meta will continue on the board as director. Javier Oliven, 44, who oversees Meta’s four major apps – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, will be the new CEO, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Twitter.
