Shericka Jacskon crushed the competition in the 200m at the Budapest Worlds. The Jamaican ran in 21”41, the second best time in history.

She was the woman to beat and she lived up to expectations with style. Reigning world champion, but beaten by Richardson in the 100m in Hungary, Shericka Jackson showed that she was indeed the strongest. And by far. Because the Jamaican left her opponents light years away.

A la Usain Bolt, Jackson cut the line in 21”41 to set the second fastest time in history, seven hundredths from Florence Griffith-Joyner’s controversial world record, which dates from 1988 in Seoul. She did better than her 21”45 from Eugene last year.

Behind, Gabrielle Thomas collected the silver in 21”81 and Sha’Carri Richardson the bronze in 21”92.

Lyles scores the double

In the men’s 200m, Noah Lyles was also eagerly awaited. World champion in the 100m, the American might not decently let go of gold in his favorite discipline. Double reigning world champion on the half-lap, Lyles won in 19”52 without having trembled for a single moment.

Coming out of the turn in the lead, the American produced his effort at the start of the straight. The United States achieve the double thanks to the young Erriyon Knighton (19”75). Batswana Letsile Tebogo (19”81) takes bronze following silver in the 100m..

Rojas gets scared

The women’s triple jump competition was worth its weight in emotions. Because superfavorite Yulimar Rojas has long had a day without. But the triple world champion, reigning Olympic champion and world record holder was able to sublimate herself on her sixth and last attempt to win her fourth world title with a leap to 15m08.

The Venezuelan has already been quite lucky to be able to take part in the last three tests, since with 14m33 she might not do better than 8th. She was even tied with American Keturah Orji, but was able to earn her three extra tries thanks to a better second attempt.

She finally beat the Ukrainian Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (15m00) and the Cuban Leyanis Perez Hernandez (14m96).

Finally, note the title in the women’s javelin for the Japanese Haruka Kitaguchi with 66m73 ahead of the Colombian Ruiz Hurtado and the Australian Little.
