JANNIK Sinner faces Ben Shelton in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters for the second year in a row, Wednesday (9/10).
The Italian tennis player then took revenge for last season’s defeat to Shelton and also ruined the American (US) tennis player’s birthday celebrations.
Sinner scored a 6-4 and 7-6(1) win over Shelton, improving to 4-1 in their head to head.

The world number one has not lost to Shelton since their first meeting last year at the Shanghai Masters.
“It was very difficult. He only played first serves, except for one second serve,” Sinner said, referring to Shelton’s incredible 95% first serve percentage in the opening set, as per ATP broadcast.
“I tried to wait a little bit. Obviously playing against him, even if it’s a second serve, it’s very difficult to return it.”

“But, if I look at the positive picture, how I ended the match, I tried to stay a little more aggressive,
that I’ve done, and this can hopefully give me confidence for the next round,” continued the 23-year-old.
Leading the ATP Tour in wins (62) and titles (six) this season, Sinner advanced to his seventh ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal this year — the most in a single season since Alexander Zverev’s seven in 2018.
Sinner, next, will face Daniil Medvedev for the fifth time this year in a bid to reach the last four in Shanghai.
Medvedev secured his 10th win over Stefanos Tsitsipas by winning 7-6 (3) and 6-3 in 1 hour and 50 minutes. (Ant/Z-1)
