The Israeli army has attacked Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in the Lebanese capital Beirut. As the military announced on Monday night, fighter jets had also attacked command centers and other “terrorist infrastructure” of the pro-Iranian Shiite militia. Hezbollah weapons depots in the area around the capital were previously bombed again. Hezbollah, in turn, continued its shelling of northern Israel.

According to the Israeli military, around five rockets were initially fired at the port city of Haifa on Sunday evening. Despite defensive fire, projectiles hit the area. The case is being investigated, it said. According to the Times of Israel, five people were injured by shrapnel in Haifa. Pictures showed damage on a road. This was followed by another 15 rockets from Lebanon, some of which the military said were intercepted. Others fell. According to the Times of Israel, one person was injured in the city of Tiberias. Other sources spoke of a total of ten injured on the Israeli side.

According to Hezbollah, a military base near Haifas was attacked. The militia said militants had fired “a volley of Fadi 1 rockets at the Carmel base south of Haifa.” The attack was dedicated to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike at the end of September.

For almost two weeks, the Israeli army has been taking massive action against the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, which is allied with the radical Islamic Hamas. In addition to Nasrallah, other high-ranking militia commanders were also killed in targeted air strikes. Iran-backed Hezbollah opened a second front against Israel shortly after October 7 with increased and continuous airstrikes and has stepped up attacks in recent weeks.

Monday marks the anniversary of the major attack on Israel by Hamas, which is also supported by Iran. The attack by the radical Islamic Palestinian organization triggered the Gaza war.

According to Israeli figures, 1,205 people were killed in the attack on October 7th last year, and 251 other people were kidnapped by Hamas as hostages in the Gaza Strip. Since then, Israel has taken massive military action in the Gaza Strip. According to the Hamas health authority, which cannot be independently verified, more than 41,800 people were killed.
