Vienna: Shell attack on Europe’s largest nuclear power plant. 15 shells were fired at the Russian-dominated Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
The building was damaged but the nuclear systems were not affected. The Russian Defense Ministry blamed Ukrainian forces for the attack. Schelling was condemned by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Frequent shelling is a cause for concern.
“Not only yesterday and today, the attack is still going on. There were 15 shell attacks. Such attacks are a threat to nuclear security. We should thank God that the radiation did not come out and that no one was in danger,” said Renet Karcha, the head of Russia’s nuclear power company.
