Firefighters from the VHP zone intervened this Saturday followingnoon in Theux, route du Grand Pierreux, for a hangar fire in a carousel.
The smoke was visible from a great distance. Around 2 p.m. the hangar was completely ablaze but there was no longer any risk of extension. The fire was confined to the hangar.
An ambulance and a Smur were sent for prevention.
A few people, slightly injured, are seen by the medical service.
In terms of horses, several animals were injured and several died. The exact number of victims is not currently known. The building being unstable, it is impossible for firefighters to enter.
In total, just under 50 firefighters intervened on site: 4 pumpers, 5 tanks, 1 self-ladder, 2 officers, 1 ART (Animal Rescue Team), 1 supply vehicle, 1 command post.
Following this fire, horses escaped into the surrounding woods and remain untraceable. The walker alert has been launched.
