She would have suffered domestic violence for 11 years

Victim of her violent partner with whom she remained for love for 11 years, a woman finally had the courage to denounce the father of her children, in particular for sexual assault following having taken him away from her life for good.

By digging into his memories, the victim of Daniel Morissette recalled that a first episode of violence had taken place at the beginning of his relationship in 2004.

Friends, present at the event, had then advised him to leave with them and at the same time the relationship.

“I loved it, ‘fa que’ I stayed there,” testified the woman.

“This is where we are embarked on the spiral of violence”, she admits today while testifying at the trial of the 41-year-old man, accused of assault and sexual assault with injury, at the Quebec courthouse.

The complainant recounted having returned to her abusive partner five or six times during their 11 years together.

In addition to the violent episodes, the victim recounted being sexually assaulted just days following having a child.

Despite stitches in the genitals following childbirth and pain, the victim said that she had painful anal sex with her husband despite his refusal.

“For him I was ready, she related with emotion, he knew that I was in pain, that I was not interested. “.

The woman meanwhile realized later that she had been the victim of a sexual assault. “I found that a sexual assault between spouses might not be,” she testified.

Regularly in consumption, Morissette repeatedly hit his spouse in quarrels. The police were also called during these events, but ultimately the victim withdrew his complaints: “I meant him no harm. »

Despite the statement of a friend of the victim who recounted having seen Morissette knock out the complainant, the accused denied all the assertions of his ex-spouse during her testimony.

Calling himself a victim of violence, he claimed to have “never raised his hand” on the complainant and only defended himself. The trial will continue with oral arguments.
