She was nominated for teacher of the year and abused a student

At a court appearance, the judge set her bail at $1 million, which Doll asked to lower, but the judge denied her request.

An English teacher at a high school in Johnston County, North Carolina (USA), was accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old student, according to local media.

The defendant was identified as Amanda Doll, 37, who was arrested on three counts including rape of a minor, sexual act with a student and indecent liberties with a child.

At a court appearance, the judge set her bail at $1 million, which Doll asked to lower, but the judge denied her request.

During the hearing, the court also declined her husband’s request to represent her legally, and a court-appointed attorney was appointed instead.

This year, West Johnston High School had named Amanda Doll to the list of 33 first-year teachers recognized for their performance in the classroom. Despite being nominated, Doll did not win teacher of the year.

According to local media, this is the third time, in the last 12 years, that a worker from the educational institution faces charges for crimes such as those committed by Amanda Doll.
