She told herself to fight for every ball

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina shared her emotions after defeating the sixth “racquet” of the world, the American Jessica Pegula, in the second round of the Olympic tournament in Paris.

As reported Community SportsElina noted that with such an opponent it was necessary to play aggressively, to fight for every ball, reports Ukrinform.

“The first set was quite difficult. Unfortunately, I could not use my chances, although they were there. But in the second game, I just said that you have to fight, you have to give all your strength to get back into the match. I am very happy that I came back and played the second and third sets at a very high level.”

“When you play against a top-level tennis player, you always have to change the pace, play more aggressively. When I lost the first set, I was not far from my game, but I had to play even more aggressively, and in the second set I told myself that I had to do it. Not just running, but playing very aggressively and fighting for every ball.

When did I realize that I was winning? Probably after the match ball. When you are focused, give all your strength and play against a top tennis player, you cannot think about winning when you are in the lead. You have to fight, concentrate on every point and keep fighting,” said the Ukrainian tennis player.
