A 19-year-old girl used mandatory quarantine in United Kingdom, as a result of the spread of COVID-19, to discover her true passion: embroidery. She quit her job at a supermarket and uses social media to promote her bag designs, earning thousands of dollars so far.
Maisie Crompton lives in Cambridge, UK, she worked one day a week at Waitrose during lockdown and started embroidering as a hobby to avoid getting bored in lockdown. However, he noticed other people were interested in the designs he had made following posting his learning process on TikTok, reports Daily Mail.
He started his business called “Totes For You” buying materials on Amazon for $34 that his grandmother had lent him. Weeks later, she is earning regarding $16,000 a day on her own website, where she offers personalized bags as well as her own designs.
“In the first lockdown I was working in a supermarket so they counted me as a key worker and I was very bored in my free time. I had an idea to start embroidering”, commented.
“I started a series on TikTok where I basically shared my idea with everyone and it turned out well, better than I expected. I documented the process from getting the idea, creating the ideas to getting the materials to start the website. Everything”, he added.
“I bought needles, embroidery hoop, embroidery floss, and tote bags for $34, all on Amazon. It came to me quite naturally when I started. Also, I’m a perfectionist, so if I mightn’t do it, I would work until I might.”.
“The day I launched (their website) I made 13 sales. I was so happy, I was buzzing. We made regarding $5,500 in a month, I’ve never seen money come in like that.”. After the great success of his brand “Totes For You”, Maisie revealed that she is now saving to buy her own house.
