In an old video that has now gone viral, Jada Pinkett Smith is heard saying she never wanted to marry Will Smith. The actress also called it a “horrible marriage.”
The Red Table Talk show has got to be one of the worst decisions Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have made in the past decade. Amid the 2022 Oscars slap controversy, an old video of the couple from the show has resurfaced. The main idea of the show was to go to family therapy in a healthy way and solve their problems. In the old clip that has now gone viral, Jada is seen sitting with Will, her mother Gammy and daughter Willow Smith. She reveals that she never wanted to get married in the first place.
In fact, the Matrix actress admitted to “crying in the spooky aisle” before she tied the knot with Will Smith on New Year’s Eve in 1997.
“I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just pregnant and I just didn’t know what to do,” Pinkett Smith said in the viral snippet of her Red Table. Facebook series talk. “I never wanted to get married,” she said.
The video made in 2018 resurfaced following Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making fun of his wife. In the old video, Jada Pinkett Smith also opened up regarding how her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, forced her and Will Smith to marry following they got pregnant with their first son together, Jaden, now aged 23 years old.
“I really didn’t want to get married,” Pinkett Smith said during the panel discussion. “We only got married because Gammy was crying,” Smith laughed at Willow.
“It was almost like Gammy was like, ‘You have to get married, so let’s talk regarding marriage,'” Pinkett Smith said, prompting Banfield-Norris to confess, “I remember feeling very strongly and wanting that you are married. ”
Conversely, Smith – who in March won his first Oscar for a masterful portrayal of Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams, 80, in the feature ‘King Richard’ – was positively giddy on the day of their wedding.
“There hasn’t been a single day in my life that I wanted anything more than to be married and have a family,” he said during the episode. “For literally 5 years, I imagined what my family would be like. »
“The wedding was horrible,” Banfield-Norris conceded. “It was bord3l. Jada was sick, she was very unpleasant. She didn’t agree with anything. Laughing, Pinkett Smith agreed, saying, “And I was so upset that I had to get married. I was so pissed off that I cried in the driveway. I cried all the way down the aisle.
