She kills her doppelganger to fake her own death

A German woman allegedly killed a woman resembling her in order to pass off her death as her own.

This is the theory advocated by investigators from the Bavaria region in Germany, reports the British media The Guardian.

The body of a young woman was found at the end of August and was initially identified as that of Sharaban K, a 23-year-old Iraqi-born beautician living in Munich.

Although his family had already identified the body, the autopsy report expressed reservations regarding his real identity.

The victim was ultimately Khadidja O, a 23-year-old Algerian blogger living in a neighboring province.

According to the police, their long hair, similar skin tone and lots of makeup, the two women look very similar.

“Our investigation leads us to believe that the accused wanted to disappear because of a family dispute and therefore faked her own death,” said Veronika Grieser, of the Crown Prosecutor’s Office.

Several women resembling him were allegedly contacted by Sharaban K on social media through numerous fake accounts.

The victim, Khadidja O, would have agreed to meet her to discuss an offer on cosmetic products, according to local media Süddeutsche Zeitung.

According to investigators, Sharaban K had the help of a 23-year-old Kosovar, Sheqir K, to pick up the victim from her home and bring her to a wooded area to kill her.

Police spokeswoman Andreas Aichele told BILD that the murder weapon had not been found, but “the victim was killed by more than 50 stab wounds. His face is completely disfigured”.

Arrest warrants have been issued for the two suspects who might face life imprisonment if proven guilty.
