Condemning comments poured in on the owner of the most beautiful sense, who justified her action, to no avail
Although 48 hours have passed since she did it, the Lebanese singer Elisa is still in the crosshairs of criticism.
Her re-publishing of a tweet that some considered racist against refugees in her country not only entered into a major controversy with the pioneers of social networking sites, but also foreshadowed a new crisis with a fellow artist who entered the crisis line.
“The Palestinians and the Syrians are a disaster”
The story began with Elissa’s re-publishing of a tweet talking about the need for the Palestinian and Syrian refugees to return to their countries, under the pretext that they have become a “disaster” that Lebanon cannot bear, according to the original author.
And it stated: “#The Palestinians in #Lebanon constitute, along with the #Syrians, a disaster that exceeds Lebanon’s ability to bear it … in politics, in security, in the economy, and in the gradual demographic change.”
Despite the attempt of the author of “Ajmal Ehsas” to justify her action as stemming from her love for her country, she wrote a tweet: “My love for my country and the interest of my country is a source of pride..and in my life I have not diminished respect for any people, so how rather the Arab people for my daughter? I don’t think it’s an easy uncle.” No one demanded that you return to their homeland, because the homeland of man is his dignity. Because I love you, I wish that all of you would return to your homelands.”
However, it did not pass unnoticed, but harsh criticism rained down on it, and some described it as “racism”, and others believed that the artist had no right to express his opinion on such thorny files.
Asala: We are guests.. Elisa: Strange people!
Things did not stop at this point, but the Syrian artist Asala entered the crisis line, and responded to Elisa’s words, saying that people on the ground are among the refugees, and that they are visitors to it, stressing the need for mercy, solidarity and unity, instead of thinking partially.
And Asala followed her tweet with another tweet, in an attempt to stress Elisa’s position with her, and that she did not intend to criticize her, as she confirmed that what happened was just a “difference of opinion, and that it does not spoil the cause of friendliness.”
But Elissa did not accept the matter, and denounced a tweet later that some saw in response to Asala, noting that people only meant to focus on the error, and to cancel everything else beautiful and wrote: “The truth is strange, many people!!! How does a person cancel everything sweet and focus on something that he originally understood mistake!”.
It is noteworthy that at the beginning of this year, Elissa announced her reconciliation with Asala, after a dispute that lasted for 5 years, on the sidelines of the ceremony that brought them together in Saudi Arabia as part of the activities of the Riyadh season.
As for Elisa, this was not the first time that she had been subjected to criticism of this kind because of similar tweets.
