In Ghent, a 26-year-old woman was killed following a collision with a train on Wednesday followingnoon. The woman crossed the crossing when the barriers were already lowered. This is what the Attorney General of East Flanders reports.

The accident happened at regarding half past eleven at the Meulesteedsesteenweg level crossing. A 26-year-old woman from Ghent was seized by a locomotive. Witnesses said that the woman was in a hurry and, without looking, she slipped under the lowered barriers. The woman died instantly.

The prosecutor did not appoint an expert because all the witnesses made similar statements. The location and the body have already been released on Wednesday followingnoon. Since 15:45, rail traffic is once more possible between Wondelgem and Ghent-Saint-Pierre.
