An Iowa woman says her father, who died in 2013, is one of the worst serial killers in US history.
Lucy Studey repeatedly showed up at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office where she told investigators that her father, Donald, allegedly killed five to six women a year over several decades.
According to Ms Studey, her father preyed on sex workers or runaways, killing them before burying them near his Thurman residence.
The area sheriff, Kevin Aistrope, confirmed that an investigation had been opened after the woman’s statements.
Corpse-sniffing police dogs were sent to the scene on October 21 and reportedly identified places where decomposing bodies might be.
“She tells a hell of a story. But we have no proof of any of this, other than what the police dog tells us. We need to have more clues,” Aistrope told the Des Moines Register.
The sheriff requested assistance from the Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigations to continue the investigation.
