She brags about lying to her customers to get better tips

The approach is not unanimous. A waitress at a restaurant in Los Angeles has revealed in a viral video that she has found a trick to get better tips, and it’s causing a stir.

User @ddeirdreee, 22, works in a restaurant where she earns a low income.

Since inflation has been very high for some time, she has noticed a decrease in the amount of tips given by customers.

On a recent shift, she says a family came to her restaurant for lunch.

Once installed, the children make a mess. The waitress then arrives at their table, and the parents were ashamed, she says.

“Instead of saying, ‘I’m going to clean up,’ I said, ‘It’s okay, I have kids at home.’

“I said that my children were 2 and 4 years old, that they were cute, and that this kind of mishap often happens to me”, she raised to her thousands of subscribers.

The employee claims to have felt immediately respected by the family, and started a long discussion with her. “It was friendly, they gave me a great tip.”

She mentions that she has used the same tactic with other families experiencing problems with their children.

“I did it all day. My tips were way higher than usual. I just told people I had kids, and they tipped me great,” she said.

Although it is a better way to make ends meet, the use of the technique divides.

“I have nothing else to say except that it is immoral”, underlines a user.

“Clever! I do it too,” admits a waitress.
