Shattered Lives, Unbroken Spirits: The Unrelenting Toll of Iraq’s Yazidi Genocide

Iraq – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed yesterday, Sunday, that we stand on the cusp of a “dangerous slide” that may drag the region and the world into continuous wars, and shake the global economy.

This came in a statement seen by Anatolia, in which he sent a message specifically to US President Joe Biden and the European Union countries, on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the Israeli war of annihilation in Gaza.

Al-Sudani stated, “With the passage of a year since the outbreak of the events of October 7, 2023, and the continuation of the Zionist aggression against Gaza, its expansion into brotherly Lebanon, and the threat to the entire region, Iraq is reminded of its early position, in which it warned of the consequences of the usurping entity’s attempt to expand war and conflict, and the consequences of its abandonment.” He continues to commit crimes, amid the inability of the international community to play its role.”

He added, “Today, in light of the dangerous repercussions the region is witnessing, we address our message to all friends, especially US President Joe Biden, and the European Union countries, that we stand on the cusp of a dangerous slide that may drag the region and the world into continuous wars, shake the global economy, and expose development to a setback.” Great, especially since our region represents the lung from which the world breathes energy.”

Al-Sudani appreciated: “The important position of French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he called for stopping the supply of weapons to the usurping entity, and working to end the war, because it is a position that stems from a real appreciation of the seriousness of the situation in the region.”

He continued, “Our government has worked very hard to spare Iraq from the effects of this escalation, and we succeeded in doing so with you and in cooperation with all friends in the world.”

Al-Sudani pointed out, “The current stage requires doubling our efforts, and making it our top priority to stop targeting civilians, and save the region from the evils of a war that will not last or leave, in which there will be no winner except the logic of killing, sabotage, and destruction.”

He stressed that “Iraq will continue its efforts and endeavors with friendly and brotherly countries, and work together to achieve calm and prevent the expansion of the conflict that affects the security of the region and the world.”

With absolute American support, Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in more than 139,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children.

Israel also expanded its aggression in the region to extend to Lebanon, where at the beginning of this month it began a ground incursion into its south, ignoring international warnings and UN resolutions.

The occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, also witnessed an unprecedented escalation in attacks by the Israeli army and settlers in parallel with the war on Gaza, where Tel Aviv killed 742 people, injured 6,200 others, and arrested nearly 11,100 people, according to official Palestinian data.

In disdain for the international community, Israel continues its war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
