The mayor of Valparaíso admitted that the government of Sebastián Piñera “solved without so much communication dust” and “much faster” the issue of fireworks for the fireworks show, which was finally not authorized by the General Directorate of National Mobilization .
On Thursday night an interview began to go viral in which the mayor of Valparaiso, Jorge Sharp recognized that the previous government had better management regarding the fireworks for the fireworks show.
It was on Wednesday night that in a conversation with CNN Chile, the journalist Mónica Rincón asked him if the authorities, specifically the Ministry of Defense, have been slow on this issue.
“For the 2021-2022 fireworks we had the same problem and the tests were carried out, without generating all the fuss. The fires were launched and they were in good condition”, explained the community chief.
Along these lines, he said that “here unfortunately I think this should have been handled differentlyso as not to have generated this uncertainty in the tourism entrepreneurs of the Valparaíso region”.
“We officiated twice, on December 6 and December 14, precisely proposing exit mechanisms in the face of this situation that had been generated with this provider,” Sharp stressed.
In this context, the mayor clarified that “the main person responsible is the provider, in this sense I do not want to assign responsibilities that do not correspond. But we might have resolved this in a different way.”
“Resolved without so much communication dust”
After being asked if he believed that the previous Ministry of Defense -of the Government of Sebastián Piñera- was more diligent than the current one, Sharp said that “It solved even without so much communication dust a problem that was similar.”
The communication authority said that “without a doubt it was resolved in a different way, which I think contributed to the certainty of the party.”
“I also appreciate the willingness of the Minister of Defense and the Undersecretary of the Armed Forces to resolve this, but it was resolved in a different way, much faster with the previous government, indeed”Sharp noted.
Let us remember that following several days of uncertainty, the General Directorate of National Mobilization (DGMN) finally decided yesterday not to authorize the use of fireworks for New Year’s festivities in Viña del Mar and Valparaíso.
This was resolved following a technical evaluation carried out by the Army Research and Control Institute (IDIC).
